There are some who expect HTC to reveal its newest smartphone models on Jan. 12, 2017. In December, the Taiwan-based company released a picture message with the date 01.12.2017 just below a large letter "U." According to GSM Arena, the new models will be called HTC U Ultra, HTC U Play, and HTC X10.

Based on the leaked information, Pocket Lint reported that the HTC U Ultra (codename: HTC Ocean Note) would be the company's flagship model. It will reportedly have a 6-inch screen with a QHD resolution. The leak claims the phone will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset and will have 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It is expected to have a dual-camera setup for its main camera with a 24 megapixels and a 13 megapixels sensor, while the front camera comes with 16 megapixels.

The HTC U Ultra will be powered by a 4,000mAh battery and charges through a USB Type-C port. It will also have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and will not have a 3.5mm headset jack. Another unique feature of the Ultra is a secondary ticker display like the one on the LG V10.

The second model is a mid-range device called the HTC U Play (codename: HTC Alpine). This model will supposedly rely on a Mediatek Helio P10 chipset and 3GB of RAM. It will have a 5.2-inch full-HD display and 32GB of internal storage. The model will have a front-mounted fingerprint reader, while its battery capacity is pegged at 2,500mAh. It will have a 16 megapixels sensor for its rear and front-facing cameras and just like the Ultra model, the Play will also ditch the 3.5mm headset jack.

The last model is dubbed the HTC X10 (codename: HTC E66) and packs a 5.5-inch display. It will also be powered by Mediatek's Helio P10 chipset and 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage with a microSD expansion slot. The X10 also features a 16.3 megapixels main camera and a 7.9 megapixels front camera. Its battery capacity has not been revealed, but it will reportedly come with a 3.5mm audio jack unlike the other two models.
