Whirlpool's new smart oven allows users to walk away from the appliance after setting it, since it gives them the ability to start, stop, and change the temperature from a different room of the home. The smartphone alerts end the need to keep checking when pre-heating the oven for baking cookies, or roasting chicken.

In addition, the Whirlpool app can inform people when they have left the oven on after leaving their home, according to IBN Live. Alphabet's Nest thermostat can detect when humans are away from their house, apartment, or condo.

There is still one big question about the oven's features. It is unknown if Whirlpool's smart appliance will prevent users from accidentally switching on the oven while they are away from home, according to CBS Miami.

Whirlpool is showcasing its newest tech at this week's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The expanding Internet of Things (IoT) connects ovens, refrigerators, and dishwashers in smart homes to the Web and to other appliances.

Meanwhile, the company is also introducing a smart dishwasher. It can send mobile alerts when the dishes are clean, and projects the amount of detergent left in the machine.

Whirlpool's new dishwasher also automatically reorders more supplies. That is via Amazon's Dash program.

CES 2016 will officially start on January 6, Wednesday. However, it is common for companies to roll out new products before the electronics show kicks off.

The Whirlpool Corporation was founded in 1911 and is headquartered in Michigan. It became the world's biggest home appliance maker after purchasing the Maytag Corporation in March 2006.
