Italian car manufacturer Alfa Romeo is returning to the United States market with the launch of the Giulia. Alfa Romeo announced that the top-line Giulia will cost $72,000 and that the company will follow it up with the release of the Stelvio SUV.

Alfa Romeo is facing stiff competition in the premium car market. The Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan is the first mass market car released by the company in the U.S. market since 2014.

In a statement acquired by Business Insider, Alfa Romeo top executive Reid Bigland said, "The all-new Giulia is the result of our 105 years of passion for Italian style, craftsmanship and performance."

On top of the Giulia line is the Quadrifoglio which was recently confirmed by Alfa Romeo to cost $72,000. It is widely considered as Alfa Romeo's answer to the popular BMW M3 sedan.

Under the hood, the Quadrifoglio has a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with some Ferrari tech in it. Alfa Romeo said that the engine is capable of outputting up to 505 horsepower and can hit zero to 60mph in just 3.8 seconds. The Quadrifoglio is expected to have a top speed of 191mph.

The Quadrifoglio is no doubt a beast and the entry-level Giulia base model can also stand on its own. According to Forbes, with a starting price of $37,995, the standard Giulia model comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine capable of outputting up to 280 horsepower. Alfa Romeo claims that this model can accelerate from zero to 60mph in 5.1 seconds and has a top speed of 149mph.

Sandwiched in the middle of the Quadrifoglio and the base Giulia is the TI or Turismo Internazionale. This model comes with the standard 280-horsepower engine along with several performance-enhancing features and styling perks. This model has genuine wood accents, 18-inch wheels, and an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen display.
