The Gionee S8 smartphone has been unveiled in China.

The high-end Gionee S8 was officially launched by the Chinese-based mobile company Gionee at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Phone Radar reported. It is the first device from the company to include a pressure sensitive 3D Touch display that can differentiate between a Touch, Tap, and a Press.

According to the company, the Gionee S8 has an app that can be selected by a touch, previewed with a tap, and need to be pressed to run the selected app. It has slimness and all metal body from the S series.

The Gionee S8 includes the world's first invisible loop metal design that hides the antenna without compromising on the signal strength. It has a 5.5-inch full high-definition AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 2.5D glass on top for good viewing angles, and the Gorilla Glass 4 protection for a scratch proof display.

The Gionee S8 also supports dual 4G bands along with b17 and b20 for global roaming. It supports dual SIM dual standby mode and offers basic connectivity options along with NFC that enables virtual payments.

According to GSM Arena, the Gionee S8 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 chipset. It comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. However, it does not have a microSD card slot. The device runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system out-of-the-box with the latest Amigo 3.2 user interface.

The Gionee S8 features a 16-megapixel camera at the back with the f/1.8 aperture and 6P lens to capture better low-light photos. It includes both phase detection autofocus and laser autofocus for faster and better focusing. It also carries an 8-megapixel front camera that takes care of selfies.

The Gionee S8 sports a camera software that can be upgraded to 'Image+ 2.0' to bring the virtual flash to the front camera for capturing selfies even in the dark light conditions. It is equipped with an integrated AKM4941 HD video recording chip combined with two microphones to record clearer audio along with the video.

The Gionee S8 is packed with a 3000 mAh battery. It will be available in deep space gray, rose gold, and shining gold color. The device has a price tag of $340.94 (2299 yuan) and is available for purchase in installments.
