Microsoft Surface Hub vs. Google Jamboard: Which is Better?

Microsoft has released the Surface Hub in July 2015 and now, Google is answering with its own collaboration device called Jamboard.

The 55-inch Google Jamboard will have a 4K display resolution support while the Surface hub has 4K resolution only on its 84-inch model as the 55-inch variant only has 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution. Both digital whiteboards feature a touchscreen display and stylus support.

The 55-inch Surface Hub comes with a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor while the 84-inch one features an Intel Core i7 chipset. Both devices sport 8 GB of RAM while the Jamboard's RAM capacity or processor are still unknown. The Surface Hub and Jamboard both come with WiFi support as well as USB 2.0 and USB 33.0 connectivity options.

The Surface Hub comes with Windows 10 and a custom version of Skype for Business, OneNote, and Microsoft Office applications. Custom apps may also be downloaded from the Windows Store for Business. The Jamboard, on the other hand, will run on Android and cannot support third-party apps. However, it will come with an Android and iOS companion app which will let users work on the digital whiteboard in real time.

While the Surface Hub is only a touch-computing device, but the Jamboard has a touch display which can be connected to other devices. The Surface Board can be mounted on a wall easily while the Jamboard will come with a stand.

The Microsoft Surface Hub costs $8,999 USD for the 55-inch and $21,999 USD for the 84-inch model. Meanwhile, the Google Jamboard will come with a $6,000 USD price tag.
