Apple has released its latest iOS 10.1 update. Apart from bringing various feature changes, the update is critical for security. The update offers portrait mode for iPhone 7 Plus. However, this feature is exclusive to this smartphone. The update is available for all the devices running on iOS 10.

The iPhone 7 Plus got the ability to support portrait mode pictures with the arrival of beta software. However, with this new update, the feature is now available to all iPhone 7 Plus users. The feature uses both the cameras of the phone. It employs both the primary 12-megapixel camera and wide angle sensor, creating a nine-layer deep map.

Apart from this major feature, the update brings transit support for Japan including local bus systems for Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. It also offers transit fare comparison when users view alternative routes for their transit.

Other updates deal with photos and cameras, allowing users to save people's names in the Photos app to their iCloud backups. It has also improved the display of colors in the grid views. For messages, the update has a new option to replay full screen and bubble effects.

However, the update will also patch a critical security hole which could allow hackers to compromise the system by using a JPEG picture. Using this exploit, merely viewing a malicious JPEG file may trigger an arbitrary code execution.
