LinkedIn Re-Introduces 'Skills and Endorsements' With Relevance, Targeting Features

LinkedIn is bringing back one of its most demanded feature, the "Skills and Endorsements."  This feature allows users to validate and approve skills and abilities of other users.

This step was taken this Wednesday. The re-introduction of this feature on LinkedIn might help some users land a promotion or even get a job.

Colleagues and peers can now tag users in a one or two-word phrase that describes their abilities to further validate the authenticity of the skills present in their resume. LinkedIn will also introduce machine learning in the endorsements feature that will help to aim the specific endorsements to relevant people.

"We're going to highlight those endorsements because they really do matter. If you get a new skill, now you can validate it to make sure all of the people who think highly of you say that," Hari Srinivasan, LinkedIn's head of identity products, said in a statement to CNET.

Earlier this year, LinkedIn announced that it has been bought by tech giant Microsoft for about $26.2 billion. Since then, it has been business as usual for LinkedIn and the company has been adding new features to improve user experience.

One of those features is Open Candidates. This feature allows members to discreetly inform recruiters that they are looking for a new job. 

Endorsements is a much more used and beneficial feature. According to LinkedIn, 10 billion endorsements have been shared on the platform since the feature was first introduced in 2012.
