Tinder now allows its users to pay the company to artificially boost their profile with a new feature called "Tinder Boost." The feature is being rolled out in the United Kingdom after its initial trial in Australia.

With Tinder's estimated 50 million users, some profiles tend to go unnoticed. But the company has announced a new feature that allows users to pay for higher visibility lasting up to 30 minutes. In the Tinder game, the more visible your profile, the higher your chance of getting matched.

On Tinder, profiles are shown based on a "special desirability mechanism." The mechanism runs on an algorithm that works allows similar users to see each other's profile for them to potentially hook up. However, users who pay for "Tinder Boost" will have their profiles automatically placed in the upper list, skipping the algorithm.

The amount for "Tinder Boost" depends on the user's age. Wired reported that users under the age of 28 pay £3.99 ($4.96) while older users pay £14.99 ($18.63). Tinder Plus users, on the other hand, get a free boost every week.

Tinder has not confirmed if other users can see whether a profile has been boosted or not, but it will show the user which new matches were derived from "Tinder Boost." The company also said that the feature is intended for people who are too busy to work on the app but still wants to meet other people.

It is unclear when "Tinder Boost" would be launched in other countries.
