Video game creator Hideo Kojima unveils his new game on stage during the PlayStation E3 2016 Press Conference at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Following the unveiling of Konami's new Metal Gear game, Metal Gear Survive, franchise creator Hideo Kojima has said that it was not his idea to let zombies run sprawling across the Metal Gear world.

During a stage presentation for his new game Death Stranding at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 last Friday, Kojima said that he had nothing to do with the new survival game set in the Metal Gear world. When asked by gaming news website IGN if the idea for soldiers fighting for survival against what appeared to be zombies came from him, Kojima said; "That's nothing to do with me!"

Kojima explained that the Metal Gear series he created centered around fictional political issues coupled with espionage. "Where do zombies fit in with that?" Kojima added.

Former Metal Gear character and mechanical designer, Koji Shinkawa, also denied having any involvement in Konami;s new Metal Gear survival game. While joining Kojima on the TGS stage, he joked that if ever he was involved in Konami's game, "it would have mechs in it."

Metal Gear Survive is a spin-off of the original Metal Gear series that Kojima created. It was first revealed at Gamescom and features a four-player cooperative gameplay. Players take on the roles of surviving Militaires Sans Frontieres members, those that did not die at the finale of Metal Gear V: Ground Zeroes.

Survive is the first Metal Gear title that Konami has released after Kojima's departure from the company in 2015. The game features survival horror, stealth combat, and multiplayer shooting elements. It had a 15-minute gameplay display that was featured at TGS 2016, Polygon reported.

Kojima's new game under the re-opened Kojima Studios, Death Stranding, is set for release in 2018. Although it is an online multiplayer game, IGN reported that it would feature solo gameplay, and might also have a heroine.
