Microsoft seems to be on its way to launch the highly anticipated Surface all-in-one PC in October. The PC is rumored to be called 'Cardinal.' Microsoft has not provided any details about the specifications of the PC. The company is likely to hold a special event to launch the hardware in late October.

According to ZDNet, the latest Surface PC is likely to run Windows 10. The PC is likely to be rolled out in three different versions with screen sizes of 21", 24" and 27". The Surface is expected to come with the Perceptive Pixel screen technology, which is also used by Surface Hub.

Microsoft's October event may also see the existing Surface tablets updated with new features such as faster processors. However, the launch of new devices such as Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 is not likely to happen within this year. The Surface Phone is also unlikely to be released this year.

Another highlight of the event is expected to be about OEM devices. This would be in line with the stance followed by Microsoft for its last hardware event in New York City. The event saw the company launch the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Surface Pro 4, Surface Book and Band 2.0.

The Verge reported that Microsoft had hinted about the possible launch Surface branded devices this year. The company also alluded to the launch of three more devices next year. The technology giant may offer two major updates to its Windows 10 operating system in 2017.
