The Sony Xperia XZ and X Compact smartphones have been launched at the IFA 2016 event in Berlin, Germany.

According to Phone Radar, the Xperia XZ and X Compact smartphones look similar from the front with dual front-facing speakers. They are water and dust resistant.

The Xperia XZ is built out of a new trademarked aluminum material called ALKALEIDO. It is the successor of the Sony Xperia X. The device has a 5.2-inch IPS full high-definition display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and Gorilla Glass protection.

The Xperia XZ is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. It comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The device also has a microSD car slot. A dual-SIM variant of the device comes with 64 GB of internal storage. It is packed with a 2900 mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 3.0. It measures 8.1 mm thickness with the weight of 161 grams.

The Xperia X Compact has a 4.6-inch high-definition IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by the hexacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chipset. It comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. It is packed with a 2700 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support. It measures 9.5 mm with the weight of 135 grams.

The connectivity options of Xperia XZ and X Compact smartphones are Bluetooth 4.2, GLONASS, NFC, GPS, Cat4 LTE, and USB Type-C port. The power button on the right edge also doubles as the fingerprint sensor. On the platform of e-retailer Clove.co.uk, the Xperia XZ is available in forest blue, mineral black, and platinum colors and the Xperia X Compact in the universe black, mist blue, and white colors, GSM Arena reported.
