Elisa breaks record for fastest 4G internet connection.

Finnish company Elisa now has the title of providing the "World's fastest 4G mobile internet speed."

According to the network operator, a 1.9 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) speed was recorded on a test network, enough to download a Blu-ray movie in just 44 seconds. Elisa revealed that it utilized Huawei's technology to nearly achieve the 2Gbps network speed threshold, Digital Journal reported.

Veli-Matti Mattila, CEO of the company, stated; "We know there hasn't been a speed this high announced by any other network."

Last year, a research team from the University of Surrey reported that they achieved 1 terabit per second (Tbps) 5G mobile speed. The result of the laboratory experiment is fifty times faster than Elisa's claimed mobile internet speed.

Elisa's commercial network speed is currently 300 Mbps. However, the company plans to come up with a premium network in Finland with a speed of 1Gbps within two years, BBC reported.

However, some analysts remain doubtful that Elisa can deliver a speed of 1.9Gbps to customers. Total Telecom assistant editor Nick Wood said that customers would not get 1.9Gbps broadband speed because "the network capacity has to be shared among customers."

uSwitch telecom expert Ernest Doku added that the infrastructure in the United Kingdom is not yet capable of handling a speed 400 times faster than 5Mbps.
