Sony is expected to release new PlayStation in September

The PlayStation Neo console is expected to be formally launched in September. However, there are rumors that Sony has another console in the making. Widely dubbed as PS4 Slim, this thinner and better version of current console has not been officially recognized by the creator company.

According to Lets Play Video Games, the console is considerably smaller and thinner (at 264 x 39 x 288mm) than the current standard model which measures 275 x 53 x 305mm. However, it does not come with any internal upgrades.

The system is accompanied by a DualShock 4 controller. The changes made to the controller are more drastic than on the console. According to Engadget, the controller is now capable of transferring data to the system, using USB cable. This means that the latency period during the game would be lower as wired connection offers better frame-precision reaction time vis-à-vis wireless transfer.

The revamped controller also comes with a light strip above the touch pad. This new placement lets users see the light strip without turning the controller over. The changing colors on the bar enables players to determine various elements such as health levels.

The model also features a easily replaceable hard drive. The drive is now shielded by a thin plastic strip on the rear side of the console. The hard disk may be unscrewed using a standard screwdriver.

The system can be placed vertically or horizontally. It is expected that there will be a separate vertical stand which can be screwed to the side of the console.
