Apple will introduce new iPhone lineup in its September event

Apple is planning to host a special event in September, where it is expected to unveil the latest iPhone lineup. There is a possibility that Apple's new wireless speakers called 'AirPods' would also be released at the event. The AirPod is likely to be integrated with the upcoming iPhone 7.

According to Mobil Telefon, Apple's device registration list in Europe contains an entry for 'Wireless headphones AirPods.' There are speculations that Apple may release the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus along with the wireless headset. This would be in line with the company's announcement that it plans to do away with the standard audio jack.

The absence of a 3.5mm headset port will make existing wire headphones redundant. This change will require users to opt for Bluetooth or Lightning connectivity for their audio devices. Apple may release a 3.5mm  Lightning adapter with the upcoming iPhone to enable buyers to keep using their headphones. According to BGR, the iPhone 7 may come with Lightning EarPods.

It is unclear whether the AirPods or Lightning EarPods would be bundled with the iPhone or will be sold as a separate accessory. The AirPods may be independent accessory whereas Lightning EarPods may be bundled with the phone.

Apple's device registration list in Europe also revealed other gadgets including over 10 different models of the Apple Watch. The company is expected to introduce the Apple Watch 2 at its September event. However, it is unclear yet how many variants of the watch will be released. The filing also lists Apple A1778 and A1784, which refer to iPhonea running on the iOS 10.

Apple's upcoming release event would be staged this fall, on September 7th.
