The popular augmented reality game "Pokémon Go" is allegedly losing players as the fame of the Japanese game dwindles.

According to Bloomberg, data from Sensor Tower, SurveyMonkey, and Apptopia reveals that the number of daily active users of the "Pokemon Go" app is on a "downward trend."

Apart from it, downloads, engagement and time spent on the app per day have also reduced.

Senior Analyst Victor Anthony said that with the present scenario, Facebook Inc., Instagram, Tinder (Match Group Inc.), Twitter Inc., and Snapchat "can breathe a sigh of relief."

"Given the rapid rise in usage of the Pokémon Go app since the launch in July, investors have been concerned that this new user experience has been detracting from time spent on other mobile-focused apps," he said. "The declining trends should assuage investor concerns about the impact of 'Pokémon' Go on time spent on the above-named companies."

Anthony further explained that data from Google Trends also indicates that "Pokémon Go" is losing players.

In the meantime, the BBC did an analysis of the situation.

While the game from Niantic Laboratory broke the Apple App Store record in terms of downloads a week after it was released, it appeared that it has failed to maintain the momentum.

On July 17, the game registered a total of 45 million daily active users, but on Aug. 16, it only had a little over 30 million.

What do you think is the reason why is "Pokémon Go" is losing players? Has the game become "old" already?
