If reports are anything to go by, the Chinese company Xiaomi is planning to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for its handsets.

The Chinese company has offered Android Marshmallow for many devices; however, the new ROM is available to beta testers only.

Xiaomi said that MIUI 7 China developer ROM based on Android M for Mi Note, Mi 4 3G/4G and Mi 3 W/C has been released to beta testers, according to a BGR report. The company further said that the Android Marshmallow will be released for public in the coming future after it is stable enough with the help of testers.

In addition, the Chinese manufacturer has published the highlights of the Android Marshmallow update. However, the latest update does not appear to come with new major features.

But there are small improvements and bug fixes. Deep clean supports managing videos and cleaning APK. files. The Android Marshmallow update will fix a Home screen-related problem when using Snow fairy theme, as icons will vanish for sometime after unlocking.

The errors in calculating sizes of deep clean big files have been fixed. It is important to note that the update is available for beta testers who have one of the aforementioned smartphones.

Upgrading to MIUI 7 will not delete the data on the mobile phone. However, it is recommended to make a data backup before upgrading.

At present, Xiaomi handsets run MIUI 7 ROM based on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system. This ROM was released in October last year.

Xiaomi Mi Note (released in 2015) and Xiaomi Mi 4 (released in 2014) had Android KitKat 4.4 operating system. In October 2015, the handsets were updated to Android Lollipop. MIUI 7 deploys colorful interface with battery saving options and better performance and has an extensive customization option. Furthermore, it supports about 10 Indian languages and has a data saver feature.

Meanwhile, Android Marshmallow is struggling with adoption. According to the latest numbers, the Android Marshmallow's adoption rate has yet to reach 1%.

The adoption rate of Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system is at 16.9%, whereas the adoption rate of Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system is at 15.7%, according to Android's page. Unfortunately, Android Marshmallow is at 0.7%.
