With tons of rumors and speculations regarding the Apple iPhone 7, the ones that stands out and the most talked about it the smartphone's form factor. Rumors claim that that iPhone 7, once it hits the market, will be Apple's thinnest smartphone to date.

Several indications point to a possible September launch of the iPhone 7, according to Mac World. With that in mind, there are rumors claiming that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be just 6mm and 6.5mm thick, respectively. In comparison, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are 7.1mm and 7.3mm thick, respectively.

Tech experts believe that Apple will be ditching the tradition 3.5mm headphone jack, thus the reason why the upcoming iPhone 7 is very thin. As a replacement, Apple will use the Lightning port as an audio connection. There are also speculations claiming that Apple might use wireless headphones instead.

Whichever option Apple will pick, both will have its own downsides. The Lightning port is also used to charge the phone and to transfer data. This could pose a serious problem to users who always multitask with their devices since only one function can be carried out at a time.

Regarding wireless headphones, serious audiophiles have always complained about the subpar audio quality when music is streamed through wireless headphones. Users who know their music quality can determine the sheer difference when using a headphone that can be physically connected to the device rather than being streamed wirelessly.

Another aspect of the iPhone smartphone that Apple needs to work on is its battery pack. While the Apple iPhone is clearly a powerful smartphone, the major concern about the device is its lack of battery power which usually cannot last a full day.

The idea of a thinner iPhone could spell trouble since Apple will have to cut on some corners and this might include a reduced battery life. A thinner device means a smaller battery pack. On the other hand, there are rumors claiming that advances in microchip manufacturing means that Apple can choose to pick a smaller yet equally powerful chipset which in turn could leave more room for the battery pack, according to Value Walk.
