With the beginning of the age of virtual reality, more and more virtual reality products, games, and services are entering the virtual realm. After Oculus and Samsung tie up to create the Gear VR and produce games, many other companies followed the suit.

HTC, the Taiwanese company, had announced its amping up bandwagon with the Vive virtual reality headset. HTC sent out Vive headsets in partnership with Valve to developers for free. They promised to release dev kit this year in January or before the April public launch date, which is delayed already.

It was speculated that the Vive unit would be over a thousand dollars but HTC opened up pre-order for $799. Thus, enabling the users to connect the unit to the powerful computer or device and enjoy great videos and games developed for the same platform. From many early reviews, it is clear that the experience is exclusive and one may forget real world surroundings. 

Hence, HTC has got its companion application for Android phones. This application will keep the users updated with all important notification. For sending notifications, the application uses Bluetooth and it requires complete set up by the Vive's computer software.

The process is easy and simple and once fixed; it will let the user receive texts, calls, and calendar reminders while wearing the Vive. It also enables the user to quickly respond back to the miss calls and messages and allows calling back the sender as well. The application is available on the Play Store and its downloading is cost free. The Vive companion application is compatible with majority of smartphones and brands available in market and is thus not limited to HTC smartphones.

HTC in the first 10 minutes of its pre-orders grossly sold over 15,000 units of the HTC Vive virtual reality headset.
