Although "Minecraft" is nearly five years old, the popular video game is still one of Microsoft's top priorities. Testament to this is when the tech giant released a major update for the game on April 6. The update was rolled out for the Microsoft Xbox consoles as well as the PlayStation 4.

The recent "Minecraft" update includes the new Minecraft Story Mode Skin Pack. The update also includes new achievements for gamers to unlock and as usual, patches for some bugs in order to stabilize the game.

The Story Mode Skin Pack, as the name suggests, offers several new player skins, 27 to be exact. The game's iconic character, Jesse, will receive quite a handful of new skins in this new pack.

Along with the skin update, Microsoft will also add six new PlayStation 4 Trophies and Xbox Achievements for players to unlock. One of the new added Achievements require players to build and fully power a Beacon.

The latest update also added the new Minecart Sounds option on the Audio Settings. The full list of patch notes and change log can be accessed on the PlayStation Lifestyle website.

With the latest update, Microsoft also patched some notable bugs in the game. Microsoft noted that the bug which rendered that Ender Dragon completely immune to attacks was already fixed. Additionally, the update also fixes the bug that causes Slimes to not spawn in certain Swamps.

While the bug fixes were appreciated by some gamers, a handful of dedicated ones complain about the delayed release of the "Minecraft" Combat Update which was released on the PC platform in March. The Combat Update puts PC gamers well ahead of their console counterparts in terms of enhancements to the game, hence the demand from the console crowd to release the update on their platform as soon as possible.

Prior to the release of the latest update, Microsoft teased fans by sending out a tweet saying that the "Minecraft: Wii U Edition" will be released in physical form in the near future, according to Neurogadget. Microsoft did not offer additional information or provide a launch schedule. The tech giant only posted a somewhat vague statement claiming that the game will be released "soon."
