Hexo drones were present at CES 2016 showroom floor, showing off its achievement in Hexo+ flying camera drone.

Hexo+ is designed to help help action sports participants and filmmakers create compelling, professional-quality, footage at a much lower cost than previously possible. Its full well capable of flying by itself autonomously can go higher to the skies, and land safely once again. The drone allows the suers to enjoy the moment such as tackling a particularly challenging cycling dirt trail.

The drone itself is a hexocopter. It provides additional stability and lift over a quadcopter design and features a streamlined profile, allowing it to follow fast-moving athletes or vehicles at up to 45mph. The battery supplies from 10 to 25 minutes of flight time depending on weather and speed, and can be recharged in about 40 minutes.

The main chassis of the drone is a cleverly-designed, gyroscopically-stabilized, mount for a GoPro action camera. There are also two landing skids, but the copter is stable enough, where catching it with hands is possible. The original design was created by world-class snowboarder Xavier De Le Rue and other extreme sports participants as a way to produce professional-quality videos of their performances without a film crew, and funded as a Kickstarter project last year.

There is no piloting involved to be exact. The responsive drone will feature a 3-axis gimbal, predictive tracking algorithms and a camera movement mobile app that allows the users to select how they would like the video to look at the end of the recording. In other words, the Hexo+ drone can be set to follow the user wherever they are, accodring to Ubergizmo.

They can also select the corresponding flight trail as it relies on data fusion algorithms to establish their current position based on GPS and phone sensors. A range of options allow the camera to film straight on, to either side or directly behind the user. After choosing the desired orientation, the application runs a quick diagnostic on the copter’s readiness to fly, and once the all-clear is given, a simple press of the take-off key finally initiates flight.

Hexo+ drone is compatible with GoProHero 3, 3+ and 4 models only, Digital Trends reported. It can even fly in slight drizzles, but it is not waterproof. The Hexo+ drone is designed to create high-quality videos at a price of $1350 excluding a GoPro camera.
