Fresh information suggests that Microsoft will be releasing Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 device in spring 2017.

The rumor mill is already talking about Microsoft Surface Pro 5 even though the Surface Pro 4 was released few months ago in October 2015. However, both the devices are expected to release next year by spring with Windows 10 Redstone 2 update onboard.

The Windows 10 OS for desktops was introduced in July last year. Now, Microsoft is expected to release new upgrades for it in two phases, namely, Redstone 1 and Redstone 2. The Redstone 1 is all set to arrive in June this year with ''Windows 10 Anniversary Update" moniker. The Redstone 2 update that is expected to include major improvements will be coming in spring 2017, ZD Net reported.

Rumors are rife that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 will be released with Windows 10 Redstone 2 onboard. Hence, both devices are expected to release in spring 2017. The Windows 10 Redstone 2 update is expected arrive with major enhancements for Continuum Windows Hello, Cortana, and Surface Pen.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book from previous year are powered by the sixth generation Intel Skylake chipsets. Both devices are marred with performance issues associated with display driver and power management. Hence, the Redmond giant will not be bringing the best software experience on Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 with Redstone 2 but also it will be coming with the next generation Intel Kaby Lake chipsets that will be available by end of 2016.

Apple is rumored to release new 2016 MacBook Air and Pro models on June 13, Mobi Picker reported. There are some contradictory rumors claiming that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 release date are set to happen in summer this year. Currently, Microsoft is not talking about successor models for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book from 2015.

In the last quarter of 2015, Microsoft had announced several new devices such as Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL, Microsoft Band 2, and Surface Pro 4. Since Surface Pro 5 and Surface Book 2 release dates are pushed to 2017, the Redmond giant may release Surface 4 and Surface Phone later this year. As of this writing, there are no rumors on whether the company will be launching successor models for Lumia 950 and 950 XL smartphones this year.
