Tech giant Google continues to market its Cloud Platform towards enterprise customers highlighting the upgrades it had made in data centers, container technology and data security.

Google Cloud Platform director of product management Greg DeMichillie explained that Google is focusing on these three aspects of cloud computing since they are considered as the areas that will hold a critical role in the advancement of the platform.

In a statement acquired by Information Week, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in his opening remarks at the Google Cloud Platform Next 2016 conference, "In the future, almost everything will be done in the cloud because it simply is a better way of doing computing."

In aspect of data centers, Google is focusing on availability, performance and security. Google Cloud head of data center Joe Kava explained the company's 24 x 7 x 365 approach. Kava cited that in terms of performance, Google's proprietary hardware designs coupled with high efficiency cooling and full integration through stack are among the best in the business.

Kava noted Google's recent participation in the Open Compute Project where Google presented a new rack specification that includes 48V power distribution and a new type of form factor that will allow OCP racks to fit into the company's data centers.

In terms of security, Google engineer Niels Provos explained that company's eight layers of security which are: Hardware, Boot, OS and IPC, Storage, Application, Deployment, Operations, and Usage. Provos added that while Google Cloud still uses Google's existing security layers, the platform will have its own future development team in order to create its own security layers.

In terms of container technology, Google vice president of infrastructure Eric Brewer explained all the advancements the company have achieved. Brewer said that containers will play a vital role in the growth of the cloud platform.

Google's own container cluster manager, Kubernetes, is less than two years old and is already in the top 0.01 percent of GitHub projects. Brewer explained the difference between Kubernetes and Docker claiming that Docker makes containers accessible to users while Kubernetes makes containers production ready, according to ZDNet.

Brewer closed the conference by unveiling Google Deployment Manager, a management and resource definition framework which users can use to parameterized templates and create their own combinations of Google Cloud Platforms.
