Tech company Razer recently launched the Nabu Watch.
Tech company Razer recently launched the Nabu Watch despite glaring aesthetic evidence showing the device to be a typical smartwatch. Razer begs to differ and calls it a digital timepiece with built-in smart technology capabilities.
The Razer Nabu Watch borrows some classic digital watch design from the 90's, especially the Casio G Shock watch and its related devices. Working on the G Shock design, Razer integrated some features from its Nabu fitness tracker into the digital watch in order to make it more relatable to the current wearable devices market.

The Nabu Watch does not boast complex pixel densities; instead it has three separate modules that display the time, date and fitness tracking data. It also pays homage to the classic G Shock design by using dot matrix in displaying information on its face.
The top module of the Nabu Watch displays the date; the middle module displays the time; and the lower one displays fitness information. The lower module is a 128 x 16 OLED screen that is reminiscent of the one installed on the Nabu band itself, according to Engadget.
Just like its band counterpart, the Razer Nabu Watch has all the fitness tracking capabilities built into it. It has sleep tracking and social features that easily turns it into a smartwatch despite Razer's insistence that it is not.
The Razer Nabu Watch has five buttons, two on each side and a bezel. The watch is powered by a powerful cell battery that can last up between 12 and 18 months.
In a statement acquired by PC Magazine, Razer CEO Ming-Lian Tan said, "We're bringing together the reliability and incredible functionality of a digital timepiece, with added features to empower the tech enthusiasts of today. We're also just excited to create a digital watch that we're proud to call our own."
The Razer Nabu Watch is available in to models. The model with polycarbonate and green highlights cost $149.99 and will hit the market before the end of January. The $199.99 Forged Edition model sports stainless steel buttons and a black finish. The Forged Edition is currently available in Razer affiliated online stores as well as the brick-and-mortar RazerStore.
