Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it will be issuing new patch for “Warcraft III.”

The announcement was made by which Blizzard’s head of classic games Robert Bridenbecker. The classic Blizzard game for PC that was first launched in 2002 and has not been updated since 2011 is finally getting an important update. Bridenbecker said that patch 1.27 for “Warcraft III” would be released simultaneously worldwide on March 15, according to PC Gamer

However, he did not offer additional details on what it would include, but he added that there will be more updates would be made available in the future. It is also presumably that it is going to address newer operating system compatibility.

“Over the past few months, you may have noticed we have introduced a new battle platform. It's introduced features like matchmaking [and] the ability to communicate with your friends at a level that is unparalleled to anything we have done with Warcraft III in the market before. And on top of that, we're proud to announce that on March 15, the next patch for Warcraft III will be available in the market, simultaneously with the rest of the globe,” he said in the Youtube announcement. 

The best seller “Warcraft III” is a high fantasy real-time strategy video game and the second sequel to “Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.” It is the third game set in the “Warcraft” fictional Universe. It is one of the most anticipated and popular computer game releases, with 4.5 million units shipped to retail stores and over one million units sold within a month. “Warcraft III” has received a lot of awards including “Game of the Year” from over six different gaming publications.

In 2015, Blizzard has created a new Classic Games division with a goal to ensure that older game titles in their directory can still be played on modern gaming devices such as PlayStation 3 and 4, Gamespot reported. 

In addition, Blizzard also announced an update for “Diablo II.” The new 1.14a update will address system glitches caused by modern operating systems. The company also started to improve the cheat-detection and hack-prevention capabilities. The last update for “Diablo II” happened in 2011.
