The sixth installment of the popular game "The Elder Scrolls" franchise may get released in two to even four years of time frame. The game is speculated to be released either around 2017 or 2019.

Game developer Bethesda is rumored to be focusing their effort on the recently released video game "Fallout 4," according to MNR Daily. They are rumored to be currently working on the upcoming patches, expansion packs, and content drops for "Fallout 4."

The delay in "The Elder Scrolls 6" release is also attributted to the fact that the game developer is rumored to be focusing on a multi-player game and the DLC packs of the existing games. 

It is also rumored that the developers are finding it very difficult to work on another big project simultaneously. It is further reported that Bethesda is currently being careful with the details of all of its games.

Hence, the main titles are rumored to be under development for at least a time span of four to five years, even if they are planned to get an early release, according to Gaming Bolt. There is also a card game version of this franchise, called the "The Elder Scrolls: Legends," whose release is also delayed at the moment.

"The Elder Scrolls 6" is expected to pick up from where "The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim" left off. Some fans are predicting that the narrative will continue after what happened post Alduin's death. There are also rumors that the game may introduce a new protagnist who will shake up things and take the gamers on an exciting ride. 

Fans suspect that Bethesda could introduce a new character altogether in the game as the main protagnist or accord more powers to an existing character.

Bethesda's vice president Pete Hines recently made a public statement and referred to this up and coming project as "Skyrim 2."

He also explained that the developers will release some official information in one year or so. He further said that Bethesda does not practices producing annual franchise just so that they can continue them. They always put quality over quantity. He said that it is safe to say that this game will not be released in 2016, a news which might dishearten some fans.
