YouTube Gaming is increasing its presence as Google seeks to compete heavily with Twitch for the hearts and minds of video game streamers around the world.

Ever since Google lost out to Amazon in its bid to acquire Twitch, the company has been bolstering YouTube to become gamer friendly. With this, YouTube Gaming was born, and now it is coming to more countries around the world.

YouTube Gaming is now available in four additional countries, and these countries are Canada, Australia, Ireland, and New Zealand. The service is live in those countries across Android, iOS, and the desktop version of YouTube.

This is great news for folks living in those countries because ever since YouTube Gaming came out, folks have been clamoring for access in order to stream their content live to the largest online video community in the world. At the moment, several creators stream on both YouTube and Twitch, so we envision a future where YouTube might become the dominant platform for streaming.

The boys at Twitch could be slapping themselves right now as they contemplate on whether they should have sold the company to Google or even Microsoft. A report from the Business Insider back in 2015 revealed that Amazon had acquired Twitch.

Outside of launching YouTube Gaming in more countries, there's also an update for the Android version of the app. We understand that it now supports 60 frames per second video playback, the ability to switch between different stream qualities, and a DVR mode.

On the desktop side of things, the homepage has seen a slight redesign and also the addition of a "Live Tab" that takes users to a list of all the live shows being done. Of course, it will only show the top streams, though we hope Google will do more to help out the smaller guys.

"Now we're inviting more players to the game. Starting today, the YouTube Gaming mobile app will be available on iOS and Android in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, homes to top gaming creators like jacksepticeye, Vanoss, and TypicalGamer. Many more countries are coming soon, so get ready," according to the official YouTube blog.

Today, thousands of people around the world live stream content on the web. Video game streaming is one of the most popular right now, and many folks are wondering why. Instead of playing the game itself, many tend to enjoy watching another person play instead. We can't be certain why this is, but that's the way of the Internet.

As the years go by, streaming video games on YouTube and Twitch is expected to become big money makers for both streamers and advertising companies. Facebook and others will no doubt get in on the fun, but for now, this space belongs to Google and Amazon.
