Samsung is reintegrating some of the features that made the Galaxy S6 model successful into its latest flagship device, the Galaxy S7. Rather than overhauling the smartphone's design, Samsung is targeting device efficiency as well as resurrecting crowd favorites like the microSD slot and extra batter power in the Galaxy S7.

Widely considered by many tech analysts as the most powerful Android device in the market, the Samsung Galaxy S7 had made waves all over the tech community since its announcement in February. What surprised many analysts are the device's lack of new design cues.

It appears that Samsung focused more on under the hood upgrades with the Galaxy S7 rather than opting for new smartphone design. The resulting device is a something the looks like the Galaxy S6, only this time it is more powerful and had several upgrades.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch super AMOLED screen with 1440 x 2560 resolution. It supports multi-touch and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Not much was changed on the outside design of the Galaxy S7. In fact, it looks virtually the same to the Galaxy S6 at a quick glance.

Under the hood improvements is where the Galaxy S7 shines. The new flagship device from Samsung has two variants in terms of chipset, one model runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 while the other one has the Samsung octa-core Exynos 8890. The Snapdragon chipset has the Adreno 530 graphics processing unit while the Exynos has the Mati T880.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is available in both single SIM and dual SIM models, which both supports microSD expansion cards of up to 200GB, according to PC Mag. The device is available in two internal storage variants, 32GB and 64GB, both sporting 4GB of RAM.

In the camera division, the Galaxy S7 has a 12-megapixel rear facing primary camera and a 9-megapixel front facing secondary camera. According to Mashable, the latest Samsung flagship device also sports an upgraded 3,000mAh Li-Ion battery pack, a significant improvement compared to the 2,550mAh battery of the S6.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is available in four color variants; black, gold, silver and white. The device is expected to be released on March 11.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is expected to pick up a price tag of $670 for the entry level model, depending on the carrier.
