Samsung Galaxy Note 5 under Verizon will finally get an Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update.

Along with all the Marshmallow goodness and the visual changes, Verizon has highlighted a few other key features. These include improvements to Live Broadcast, WiFi Calling for HD Voice users and the removal of the Amazon Appstore, according to Android Central. There will be hundreds of new emojis for the keyboard.

The Marshmallow update brings Samsung Internet 4.0 and Cross App boost functionality. The Internet 4.0 browser brings improved security and new functionality including a new Secret Mode that’s doesn’t store browsing history, cookies, passwords, auto-fill data or anything else. It also brings browsing support for Samsung’s Gear VR. With the addition of Material Design, many visual changes will be implemented as well.

The new ROM comes with software version MMB29K.N920VVRU2BPB2 and updates the device to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Apart from the latest version of Android, the new software will also install the latest security patches on Samsung’s flagship phablet for 2015. The update can be downloaded over either Wi-Fi or mobile network, but Verizon advises users to make sure that the battery is fully charged before starting the update process. It is standard procedure for downloading and installing updates on smartphones.

In addition to the most significant new features and improvements included in the update, Verizon mentions “Now on Tap,” which provides users with cards that contain useful information and apps. The Doze mode has improved. It is the app that puts the smartphone into a sleep slate, thus preserving the phone's battery even more. Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users will be able to choose to give specific permissions to any application installed on their smartphones.

Users can also check for the new software manually by going into Settings > About Device > Software Updates > Check for Updates.

Verizon said that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be pushed in waves, which means that it might not be available for all devices at the same time.

Canadian carrier Telus also confirmed the Marshmallow roll out plan for Galaxy Note 5 on March 13. T-Mobile USA is planning an Android Marshmallow update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 as well, Gotta Be Mobile reported.
