Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the third game in the Black Ops series, and the first to release on Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

Activision has come up with a new way to sell Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to the masses. This is called the Starter Pack, and it only consists of the multiplayer aspect of the game, which is mostly played.

The price for the Starter Pack is $14.99, and for the moment it is exclusive to Steam. Furthermore, this is not a forever thing, but a deal that will end come February 29. With such a small window, the chances of this deal making it to console is quite short.

What does the Starter Pack offer? Well, as stated above, it offers only the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but without the ability to play in custom matches. Players will only get access to ranked matches, arena and freerun, along with other features.

The season pass which is also multiplayer focused, will be available to those who purchase the Starter Pack. Furthermore, players will be able to compete against those who own the full game.

The option to purchase the full game is also there, but worry not, Activision will not be asking Starter Pack owners to pay full price. The full game will be offered at a discount, though we're not yet certain how much of a discount will be given.

Here's the list of features players won't be able to take advantage of in the Starter Pack, according to Steam:

  • Zombies game mode
  • Campaign game mode
  • Ability to play in Multiplayer custom games
  • Ability to Prestige (your level will be capped at 55 in the Starter Pack)
  • Access to mod tools or modded content (once released)
  • Access to unranked server browser (once released)
  • Ability to Fresh Start your profile
  • The ability to access Dead Ops Arcade II and Nightmares mode

For those folks who are only interested in the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, then the Starter Pack is a good way to get in the game. The only downside is the inability to play custom matches and Zombie Mode.

Call of Duty: Black Ops fans know that Zombies is one of the most played and most loved feature of the series, so we believe most folks will purchase the full game to gain access to this mode.
