Lenovo and Motorola are rumored to be working on Moto M2, the successor of the original Moto M from last year.

Last year in November, Lenovo had released a mid-range smartphone, the Moto M, in limited markets like China and India. This year, a leaked snapshot of a Lenovo/Motorola event revealed that the company would be releasing several smartphones this year. However, the snapshot did not contain any information on the successor phone for Moto M.

On June 1, a smartphone carrying a model number of Lenovo XT1902-3 was spotted on Geekbench. Even though it is a Lenovo phone, the XT model number shows that it is a Moto branded phone. Moreover, some of the specs of the mysterious phone suggest that it could be the Moto M2, The Android Soul reported.

The alleged Moto M2 on Geekbench is powered by MediaTek M6797 chipset (Helio P20). The original Moto M was driven Helio P10 SoC in China and the Indian variant was powered by Helio P15. The SoC of the Moto M2 is coupled with 4 GB of RAM.

It is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. On single-core test of Geekbench, the smartphone has recorded a score of 1,163. On multi-core test, it has score 4,836. These scores show that it is indeed a mid-range smartphone.

The Moto C and Moto C Plus have already released. Also, the Moto Z2 Play was launched at the start of this month. At the end of this month, it is slated to debut the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus. There are some other Moto phones that are waiting to get unleashed such as Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force flagship phones as well as Moto G5S and G5S+.

The Moto X4 is also another phone that is expected to get unveiled soon. The original Moto M debuted in November 2016. Hence, its successor is speculated to get unveiled in the last quarter of 2017.
