If the plan is to look beyond the iPhone 8 and get the iPhone 7S instead - supposedly it's cheaper and nearly has the same inside component - would-be buyers need to know that there are a number of exciting features the latter with not get. One of them is wireless charging.

According to DigiTimes, unlike the iPhone 8 both the 7S and 7S Plus will still make use of aluminum casing so the wireless charging functionality has been ruled out for the series. it looks like that at least for the 2017 iPhone push by Apple, the wireless charging feature will be exclusive to the iPhone 8, sometimes called iPhone X.

The same publication reported Taiwanese firm Catcher has been tapped by Apple to mass manufacture the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus chassis that will be made of metal. The report served as the latest confirmation that the 7S series will largely retain the same industrial design of the iPhone 7 handset models.

Previously, analyst Ming-chi Kuo has predicted that the iPhone 7S will still use the language design that was introduced with the iPhone 6 series.

The iPhone 8, on the other hand, is the most premium model, per Kuo, as the handset will boast of an all-glass build and design. The front and rear panels will be made of glass covers that will sandwich the stainless framing to hold the inside components.

The same model will also use OLED display that is embedded with virtual sensors and control buttons - the latter will include the Touch ID reader right under the glass.

Inside, all 2017 iPhones will be powered by the 10-nanometer A11 processor that will be supported by 3GB of RAM. It is understood all models will share the same specifications.

And running the 2017 iPhone show is iOS 11 that Apple officially announced at the WWDC 2017 this week. The new mobile operating system will include some UI tweaks that will give the next iPhone a fresh look and feel.

Kuo said the iPhone 8 and iPhone 7S will be unveiled as expected in September but only the latter will start selling immediately. Citing supply and production problems, the analyst said the iPhone 8 release date will be delayed for weeks or even a few months. The starting price is pegged at around $999.
