Intel Core i9 and other next-gen processors are being introduced.

Intel Core i9, an Intel Core X family, does not scare AMD Threadripper. Although Intel promises more core, the Ryzen CPU is still on the upper hand with its features and other potential tweaks and updates.

The CPU wars continue with Intel introducing its new CPU family. The Core X series, including the Core i9 variant, reflects extreme performance that the chip manufacturer wants to deliver to consumers.

Apart from the notion of taking user's experience to the next level, marketing wise, the Intel Core i9 is seen as the response of Intel to the threat of the Ryzen Threadripper. The 18-core, 32-threads desktop CPU that seats on top of the Intel Core X family is the company's answer to the growing popularity of the Ryzen CPU.

However, although the company's respond to the Ryzen lineup is somehow enticing and promising, experts believe that such response is embarrassing and made in a hurry, according to Seeking Alpha. In terms of pricing and performance, AMD Ryzen chips are far better compared to the current market offering of Intel.

Some experts believe that the proprietary design for the Intel X299 motherboard chips will somehow alienate loyal Intel customers. Intel's latest processor lineup also uses more power per core.

To be more concrete, Intel 4 cores CPU at 4Ghz consumes 112W with $242. On the other hand, Ryzen's 6-core processor at 3.6Ghz uses only 65W, while being on a $220 price point.

Apart from low-power design methodologies, high bandwidth, and low latency of the next-gen AMD chips could offer, the Threadripper has another advantage against Intel Core X solution. Infinity Fabric allows for scalability; the company can simply and cheaply add more CPUs and GPUs to increase computing power.

Lastly, in terms of price, AMD Threadripper can easily disrupt the Intel Core i9 pricing. As of the current writing, the high-end model of the Core X series will be priced around $1,999, whereas the newly announced Ryzen is expected around $849.
