HMD Global appears to be working on its version of a flagship killer in the Nokia 9, which as suggested by the latest rumors and leaked details will boast of premium hardware specifications headlined by Snapdragon 835 chipset and up to 8GB of RAM support. And to slay the competition, the near-Pure Android phone will sell starting at $700, reports said.

Nokia PowerUser pointed to a recently unearthed Geekbench listing that seems to allude to the upcoming Nokia 9. The device in question carried model numbers TA-1004 and TA-1005 - the former is supposedly the dual-SIM Nokia 9 and the latter represent the regular model.

In a related report, GSM Arena said the Nokia 9 is codenamed "Unknown Heart" and as shown by the same Geekbench document will have a whopping RAM provision of 8GB or double the size of the current flagship standard. The same listing essentially confirmed that for its flagship offering, HMD Global tapped the SD 835 SoC as the Nokia 9 main engine.

It was suggested likewise by the Nokia PowerUser report that the Nokia 9 is touching down real soon as trademark registrations related to the device have been spotted in Europe. But it's important to note that the plan is for the Nokia 9 to see a global release.

A solid indicator of this is a model of the handset with 8GB RAM. GSM Arena said the leaked spec somehow indicated that HMD will sell the Nokia 9 in China and select Asian markets where smartphones with increased RAM provision has been available for some time now. A dual-SIM flavor of the device if realized is another sign that HMD is making a push in greater Asia with the Nokia 9, the report added.

When unpacked, the Nokia 9 is tipped to sport a 5.3-inch display with QHD screen resolution. And like the other 2017 flagships to come out, the handset will be equipped with a 13-megapixel rear shooter in dual camera setting. The basic storage is 64GB.

The Nokia 9 has no solid release date details as of writing but according to GSM Arena, the asking price for the device will start as $700.
