Forget Samsung Galaxy S8 – 6.44-inch Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Promises 2-Day Battery Life for Under $300

Gorgeous as it is, the Samsung Galaxy S8 is in for a tough competition with the new Xiaomi Mi Max 2, which boasts of a screaming display at 6.44-inch, a massive 5300mAh battery that supposedly can deliver two days of battery life and killer price tag of under $300.

In fact, the Xiaomi Mi Max sticker price starts at around $250 for the 64GB model and $290 for the 128GB edition with provision for memory expansion. Sure, the Mi Max 2 is not of the flagship breed like the GS8 but most Android users it gets the job done in style.

Gadget Match said the super phablet, which belongs to the so-called premium mid-range smartphones, is perfect for the near high-end mobile experience. "It's definitely designed for getting the most out of your mobile games and watching movies while in transit," the report said.

And best part, owning the device will not break the bank as indicated in the pricing mentioned above. It should be noted that Mi Max 2 has a predecessor that The Verge said was fairly successful. As claimed by Xiaomi, the first version counted more than three million sales and the company is aiming to surpass the numbers.

Most likely, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will fly off the shelves as the device specifications are more than decent, headlined by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 chip that spins away with top speed of 2.0GHz with 4GB of RAM support. The camera combo is what buyers will pay for - 12MP on rear and 5MP on front.

As listed above, the Mi Max 2 battery is large enough to support 18 hours of video playback, and likely the same amount of gaming time, in a single charge. And charging the device is impressively quick as Xiaomi claims the battery meter will go up by more than 50 percent in one hour of juicing up, thanks to the use of quick charging technology via the USB-C port.

And just to remind that the handset has some of the standard flagship functionalities, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 will jump out of the box with a rear-located fingerprint reader. Which also means that while the screen is not of Infinity Display class it's nearly immersive as it can be.

Running the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 show is Android 7.0 Nougat, skinned of course by Xiaomi's MIUI 8 OS. Release date is June 1 for mainland China and availability for other markets is yet to be announced.
