New updates for "Final Fantasy 7" remake will feature a possible 2020 release date and internal changes on the game's development.

It seems that Square Enix are making some changes in the development of "Final Fantasy 7" remake as the Japanese publisher believed that they should do this internally instead of external. CyberConnect2 was previously helping Square Enix with development.

In addition, "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII" main programmer Haoki Hamguchi is appointed to lead the development team of "Final Fantasy 7" remake, GameSpot reported. When asked about his plans for the remake, he stated that the whole story is still sensitive at the moment and the development was moving forward with external cooperation, but Square Enix has decided to shift to an internal setup, including mass production and quality, because they want to control everything, including quality, on a stable schedule.

It was not long ago that Square Enix is looking for new talent to join them in "Final Fantasy 7" remake such as a “battle planner”, “level planner”, and “BG designer.”The company is looking for people who will be equally skilled and committed.

This also means that "Final Fantasy 7" remake might have changes in-terms of gameplay features. So far, gamers only knew that the remake will be action-oriented rather than turned-based from the original. Changes in the Materia system will be skill based and seperate from magic, and players will have the ability to control other characters in "Final Fantasy VII."

Lastly, Square Enix president and CEO Yosuke Matsuda announced that "Final Fantasy 7" remake will likely launch within the next three years along with "Kingdom Hearts 3," Gematsu reported.

This means that gaming fans will likely expect "Final Fantasy 7" remake sometime in the year 2020 for the PlayStation 4.
