When ExtraTorrent.cc was closed down, the site operator made clear the exit is permanent and going back online is out of the question - it was a permanent shutdown. ET operator SaM even warned that there will be ExtraTorrent clones and mirrors to come out and according to him, these are fakes.

That's because the data essential for ExtraTorrent's operation and possible comeback have been wiped out, deleted by SaM purportedly to steer clear of legal troubles. The message was clear that ET was calling it quits and SaM was determined to walk away for unknown reasons. "Stay away from fake ExtraTorrent websites and clones," he announced.

But days after the ExtraTorrent.cc was shuttered, ExtraTorrent.cd went live and the site operators the new ExtraTorrent is now up thanks to the efforts of admins, moderators and uploaders that previously collaborated with SaM.

"We are a team of coders, many of which were part of the original crew that managed ET," the new ET team was quoted by Digital Music News as saying.

However, not everyone welcomed ExtraTorrent.cd. In a report, TorrentFreak said "ExtraTorrent.cd is nothing more than a Pirate Bay mirror with an ExtraTorrent skin," adding that suggestions of ExtraTorrent resurrection through the new website is untrue.

In other words and with SaM not involved in any role with ExtraTorrent.cd, the new operation can be called a scam, as described by the same Digital Music News report.

True or not, it will be safer for torrent fans to instead consider the more reliable torrenting alternatives out there. Tech Worm listed at least five:

Of the torrent sites listed, it's The Pirate bay that is readily noticeable as the site is acknowledged as the King of Torrents - the top operator that offers free downloads of nearly all sorts of digital files. YTS.ag is also among the top torrent operation and it's focused on providing free access to movie files that are of decent quality (in 720p, 1080p and 3D) but small footprint, most downloads weighing no more than 2GB.

For now, the mentioned list can be taken as the trusted torrenting destinations as it is expected that ExtraTorrent.cd will not be the last. More clones and mirrors will come out in the days ahead, and as seen before when YIFY, Kickass Torrents and Torrentz.eu abruptly and permanently exited from the scene.
