Popular as it might be, the Nokia 6 is not the rumored flagship that HMD Global will deploy this 2017. That honor belongs to the Nokia 9 and the latest leaked details indeed suggested of flagship handset specifications, headlined by the combo of Snapdragon 835 processors and up to 6GB of RAM support.

To be clear, the leaked images and specs shared by French-language blog Frandroid pointed to SD 835 and 4GB RAM as the basic main engine for the Nokia 9, WCCFTech said a more premium version is likely part of the release plan by HMD. The top-end model could boast of the same SoC from Qualcomm but with 6GB RAM provision and double the storage leaked by Frandroid, which is 64GB.

Per the same report, the handset is said to sport a 5.3-inch display panel that will render clips and images in WQHD 2K resolution, 2560 x 1440 screen pixels to be exact. These specs were based on the working Nokia 9 prototype that Frandroid reportedly obtained and tested.

Also discussed was the inclusion of a dual camera setting for the Nokia 9, which will have a 13-megapixel rear camera sensor. It's unclear if the device front camera will get the same treatment as seen in leaks that touched on the upcoming iPhone 8.

Design- and build-wise, the leaked images did not provide too many clues but since the Nokia 9 is of the flagship class it should be fair to expect the use of glass and metal for the external finish with the possibility of an all-screen profile, that is seen with the Samsung Galaxy S8 and likely to be enhanced further by Apple with the iPhone 8 release.

WCCFTech said the Nokia 9 will unpack not with Android 0 or version 8.0 as Google's Pixel 2 2017 phones will be the ones to get the OS bump first. Instead, the Nokia will rock Android 7.1.1 Nougat that as promised by HMD Global will be of near-Stock Android build.

No specific release date for the Nokia 9 has been mentioned in any of the reports but a safe bet would be in the second half of 2017. Android Headlines said the likely asking price for the Nokia 2017 flagship will start at $700.
