The latest Google Fiber project claims that they are giving out 1Gbps speeds for both downloads and uploads. The regular monthly rate for this Internet speed is around $70.

According to NDTV, the free gigabit Internet speed will be rolled out to West Bluff, located in Kansas City, Missouri. In order to make this project possible, Google is partnering with the Housing Authority of Kansas City.

The free Internet project of Google Fiber does not require eligible residents to pay for any equipment or installation fees.

In a statement acquired by Ars Technica, Google Fiber announced, "We've wired all 100 homes with Fiber, and families can sign up today to access the Internet at up to 1,000Mbps. Across Kansas City, we're working with local affordable housing providers to connect up to nine properties, reaching more than 1,300 families in the metro area.

Google Fiber added that the same project will be rolled out to other cities that have an existing Google Fiber infrastructure. As of this writing, Google Fiber is available in Provo, Utah and Austin, Texas. Google is already negotiating local authorities in six other metro areas in order to deploy Google Fiber infrastructure.

Google Fiber only has a one Internet speed tier without monthly service payments. Eligible customers can take advantage of Google Fiber's 5Mbps download and 1Mbps upload speeds for only $300 one-time payment to cover for construction fees. The fee can be paid upfront or prorated for the next 12 months.

As part of its free Internet campaign, Google has partnered with local Kansas City groups like Connecting for Good and Surplus Exchange in order to give out discounts for refurbished devices like laptops, smartphones and tablets. Google is also planning to establish computer labs and hold computer classes in order to help residents in developing their skills need to effectively use the Internet.
