Known as Samsung W2017, this phone model will revive the flip phone design, which was a serious hit years ago, according to Express. This could also e Samsung's attempt to prepare the way for the introduction of flexible smartphones.

As of the current writing, the upcoming Samsung W2017 will come with a similar flip phone design but with upgraded features. Unlike the new Nokia 3310, the Samsung device will be a high-end smartphone.

The Samsung W2017 is expected to run on the Android OS, according to Game Sinners. Some of its unique features include wireless charging, a fingerprint sensor, and Samsung Pay support.

It will sport two 4.2-inch OLED displays, inside-out. As for its chipset, it is likely to come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with 64GB of internal storage.

This bold move by Samsung, if indeed true, will surely delight consumers who prefer traditional smartphone designs. The confluence of a retro design and sophisticated features has an appeal.

With a potential challenger in the retro phone department, the 3310 may soon encounter a slight drop in terms of demand. The release of the Samsung W2017 could trigger the comeback of other retro phones, such as Motorola's iconic flip phones.
