"Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles" will hit PlayStation 4 on May 16 and we've got the trailer and all the info on the launch and the upcoming fan event for you. The expansion for "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" will give players eight fully-remastered classic maps from "Call of Duty: World at War", "Call of Duty: Black Ops", and "Call of Duty: Black Ops II".

Treyarch story trailer brings the many all-too-familiar settings that had us teleporting, cutting through hordes with metal and laser ammo and maneuvering through tight spaces and the ravenous undead. The description reads: Relive the story of the undead in "Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles", the ultimate remastered Zombies collection from Treyarch, creators of the original "Call of Duty Zombies" saga.

Although the trailer does at least clue fans in on what to expect, this look at the updated versions of the map is all too brief. While the target audience of the DLC is surely people who have already played and enjoyed these maps, Activision and Treyarch have attached a $30 price tag to it. As such, anyone buying "Zombies Chronicles" to experience this content for the first time may need a bit more convincing than this trailer.

The digital offering comes with 20 vials of Liquid Divinium, 2 all-new whimsical GobbleGums, exclusive Zombies Pack-A-Punch weapon camo, "Black Ops III Zombies Chronicles" dynamic system theme for PlayStation 4 (exclusive pre-order incentive), featuring artwork by a renowned artist.

Moreover, the trailer doesn't make it immediately clear why someone should invest in this blast from the past to play a "Call of Duty Zombies" mode when the upcoming "Call of Duty: WWII" also promises Zombies mode gameplay. It's true that little information about WW2's Zombies mode has been officially revealed just yet but the game will feature undead killing along with the World War 2 set campaign that fans have been asking for for a while.

With the release of the downloadable content right around the corner on PS4 (with PC and Xbox One released expected around 30 days after), it's unlikely that these questions will be answered before release. Though fans will still be hoping that the DLC gets a pre-release price cut or that Treyarch and "Call of Duty: WW2" developer Sledgehammer Games address things anyway.
