Volkswagen India is set to release its latest Tiguan SUV. However, ahead of its launch, a leak of its specs has surfaced online.

The Volkswagen Tiguan will be released in two variants, namely the Comfortline and Highline. The distinction between the two could easily be spotted on their alloy wheels, according to The Hans India.

The Comfortline would reportedly feature 17-inch alloy wheels. On the other hand, 18-inch alloy wheels will be fitted on the Highline variant.

Moreover, Comfortline will also showcase LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, and LED tail lamps. Volkswagen India has also incorporated three-zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with a heating function for both seats and memory function for the driver's seat.  

To fit in with the so-called internet of things, the vehicle will have an 8.0-inch Composition touchscreen infotainment system. The touchscreen device will be coupled with Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and 8-speaker sound system.

The Highline variant will boast of a panoramic sunroof, keyless entry with a push-button start. It will also have an Easy Open gesture-controlled tailgate, reverse parking camera, and ambient lighting.

Overall, the Tiguan SUV will have 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that will channel power to the wheels via the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. However, the details mentioned above are yet to be confirmed.

Meanwhile, in the international scene, Volkswagen is hoping to leapfrog Tesla in the electric car race. The German automaker hopes to emerge from the 2015 diesel emissions scandal and become the new leader in electric cars by 2025.

"Anything Tesla can do, we can surpass," declared Herbert Diess, head of the VW brand at its Wolfsburg headquarters.
