Samsung has confirmed the relaunch of the Galaxy Note 7 this coming June but a new report suggested the refurbished phablet flagship will hit the market powered by the same processor found on the Galaxy S8. Specifically, one version the resurrected device will have Exynos 8895 SoC as main engine.

A leaked Geekbench result, according to Deccan Chronicle, seemed to have revealed the existence of a Note 7R model that is potentially powerful as that of the GS8. The handset listed in the document came with the model number SM-N935S and fired up by two different processors both in 8-core configurations.

The report identified the processing chips as Samsung's Exynos 8890, which was used with the original Note 7 launch last year, and Exynos 8895, the powerhouse chip deployed with the GS8 in select markets. The leaked document, WCCFTech said in a related report, somehow suggested Samsung will make available the Note 7R in two variants, and one will run on an updated and more powerful Exynos SoC.

The Note 7R is likewise expected to include significant hardware adjustments, purportedly to prevent a repeat of the Galaxy Note 7 debacle in late 2016. WCCFTech said the Note 7 relaunch will employ a flat screen instead of the curvy glass panel that was seen with the first rollout. "The flat screen models could prevent the puncturing of the battery, which could have been a reason why the Note7 ended up exploding in the first place," the report said.

A battery downgrade is also part of the deal, from the 3500mAh battery pack of the original to the 3200mAh battery of the Note 7R, purportedly as another measure to avoid the battery explosions that led to the recall of the Note 7 last year.

But the rest of the specification first seen with the original device will remain the same, Deccan Chronicle said, adding that initially the Galaxy Note 7R will first sell in South Korea and Vietnam at around $620.

Samsung is expected to make further announcements following the Galaxy Note 7R release next month with the likelihood of the handset to be reintroduced in more markets, the report added.
