HMD Global brought Nokia back to life with the remake of the Nokia 3310 feature phone and three near-Pure Android mid-range handsets this 2017. But reports from China indicate the company will introduce the Nokia 2017 flagship with monster specifications.

Picking up the report from Chinese-language blog site MyDrivers, NDTV said Nokia's hero phone will be a close match to the recently released Samsung Galaxy S8. The Nokia 2017 flagship will be wrapped in a mix glass and metal and will boast of the same powerful engine that fires up the GS8 - Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC.

The Nokia premium smartphone, like the GS8, will deploy in two variants and likely will be separated by screen sizes though the same report did not include display measurement. But it was claimed that the handset will come in two RAM configurations - 4GB likely for the smaller model and 6GB for the Galaxy S8 Plus counterpart.

And to be clear, Nokia's flagship will not be called Nokia 7 or 8 as earlier rumored, which NDTV said are actually two different phones that will see the light of the day later this 2017. The same devices will be muscling their way to the market with the Snapdragon 660 processor.

Also, any of the Nokia 7 or 8 will not get the same camera treatment that is reserved to the Nokia 2017 flagship phone, rumored to be labeled Nokia 9. Baked in with the latter is a 23-megapixel rear shooter but without the Carl Zeiss lens technology. There were indications too that the handset will be equipped with a dual-camera setup, which is rumored to be found on Apple's iPhone 8 and Samsung's Galaxy Note 8.

But what could prove as the biggest selling points of the Nokia 2017 flagship are the near-Stock Android that will run the device and the relatively cheaper price tag. For the regular edition, the starting price is $580 while the supersized model will begin at $650, NDTV reported. In comparison, the iPhone 8 is said to carry a sticker price of no less than $1000 while the cash damage of getting the GS8 starts at $720.

The Nokia 2017 flagship or Nokia 9 release date, if the China blog report is to be believed, is set anytime this coming June but HMD Global has yet to provide confirmation on the matter.
