‘Kingdom Hearts 3’ News: Story, Release Date Window, Possible E3 2017 Reveal; What’s Confirmed so far

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is slowly approaching its release as Square Enix recently revealed its release date window. Game director Tetsuya Nomura has also confirmed to unveil more development details this year that led many to believe it will happen at E3 2017 this June.

An investors' document revealed recently the upcoming titles listed for its current fiscal year and it showed that "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" and "Kingdom Hearts 3" are not included. Despite that it is not deemed official, the two popular RPG will be released during the fiscal year 2018 and beyond.

For those who are not aware, the fiscal year 2018 falls between October 2017 and March 2018. Hence, fans might see its release in March next year at the earliest. However, the timeframe also indicatse an indefinite date when it mentioned "and beyond."

In his interview with Famitsu (translated by Gematsu), game director Tetsuya Nomura confirmed that the development of "Kingdom Hearts 3" is not nearly finished. "In terms of the state of development, there is still some way to go," Nomura said.

But the famed game director of the KH and FF series also offered something to look forward to this year. He said that he has plans to give fans a glimpse at the game's progress at an event somewhere.

E3 2017 Reveal

Following his statement, pundits and fans alike are now guessing that the highly anticipated official reveal will happen at E3 2017. The expo has served as the perfect platform for many game developers for a number of KH titles including "Kingdom Hearts 3".

Followers in fact know that the game first debuted at the said event in 2013. But it skipped the past E3 events, so, it is about time for the JRPG to appear at this year's E3.

Story

Nomura has also confirmed that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will directly pick up the ending of "Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance". So, Sora and his friends will take on their quest to search for the Seven Guardians of Light to get ready for the ultimate battle against Master Xenahort.

King Mickey and Riku, on the other hand, will again look for the rest of the Keyblade wielders in "Kingdom Hearts 3". Players will have enough time to catch up on the story as they play "Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue".
