Fans are anticipating the release of "Assassin's Creed Empire" this year, following Ubisoft's decision not to release a new AC game in 2016 after "Assassin's Creed Syndicate." However,  a Swiss retailer may have accidentally revealed an October 2017 release date in its game listing, VG247 reported

Some see it as a placeholder date. However, it is worth noting that past AC titles are traditionally launched between October and November. Ubisoft also has a track record of delaying the release of its games.

Lead Character

A recent leak has also revealed some information about the lead character of the game, according to NeoGAF. The new title is said to be a prequel to the game series and an ancestor of Altair will reportedly star in the game.

Multiple Locations

Speculations are rife that "Assassin's Creed Empire" will take place in an ancient Egyptian. This piece of information comes courtesy of an alleged Ubisoft employee who posted the leak on 4Chan.

However, another unnamed source claims that the game will not be set in Egypt, but Classical Greece. Greece is near Egypt, and at some point in history, the two cultures interacted with one another. It is also possible that the game will feature multiple cities or locations and it could expand to Rome during the era of Alexander the Great.

Words from Ubisoft's Bosses

At last year's company earning's call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that he could not reveal details about the new AC game yet. "We are working hard on this game, and it will be launched when ready,"  he said.

Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez also had something good to say about "Assassin's Creed Empire" at the time. "And it's great game; looking good," Martinez said.

Ubisoft is expected to debut some of its big IPs at E3 2017. The game developer could also reveal a trailer and gameplay details for "Assassin's Creed Empire."
