Apple, the company that introduced to millions the famous computers, laptops, smartphones and IPads is in for another breakthrough. This time around it's about health research gadgets that could benefit millions who are suffering from diabetes. For five years, the company's team of biomedical engineers and researchers have been working on sensors that will be used to monitor blood sugar levels.

According to Technobuffalo, Apple has developed optical sensors to measure glucose. The sensors operate by allowing light to flash through the skin of the patient and reveal indications of sugar readings. The sensors, which are the main component of the Apple Watch transforms the ordinary time piece and accessory to a health gadget that diabetics can wear always.

In a similar report by CNBC, this medical technology breakthrough has been a product of the visionary co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs. It used to be a super secret research initiated by Jobs in a quest to develop sensors that could be used to continuously and non-invasively monitor blood sugar levels. The catch of this technology is the painless measurement because it will no longer be administered without piercing the skin.

It was sometime back in 2010 that the concept of sensor technologies has intruded into the Apple environment when the company acquired a company named Cor. The sensors are not intended for the laptops and IPads but these are being aimed at health and wellness.

Apple's breakthrough in optical sensors for diabetes is branded to be a "holy grail" in the area of health and the life sciences. It won't be long and the diabetes Smartwatch will be introduced in the market. Once made available, those with diabetes will have answers to their woes related to measuring and monitoring sugar levels.
