For several months now, the media is bombarding Earthlings with Elon Musk's call for a mission to the Red Planet, Mars. His call involves not only the cost but the readiness to face the challenges of space travel and facing the ultimate catastrophes, even death itself. Hence, there are questions whether, the cost of a cool $200,000 is but a one way ticket only.

According to Blastr, the advertised cost to get one to Mars is understated, when it has been known in previous reports that it will cost a million dollars to go to Mars. Take note that Musk will bring humans to Mars using reusable rockets. This is already a cut in the cost plus the gravity that will bring back humans on earth. However, even Musk himself declared in his speeches that going on the first mission to Mars would be full of danger and the occurrence of death is ultra high.

The travel to Mars is estimated to take seven months, which is actually much longer than the stay of the astronauts in the International Space Station at present. The travel time for each journey is not fixed because Earth and Mars differ in their orbit, which is not perfect circles. That is why the travel time could range from six to eight months depending on the time of departure from Earth.

The travel to Mars has to be conducted at the 'Hohmann Transfer Orbit, which is the route where the Transfer Orbit Aphelion coincides with Mars Orbit. Therefore, it is advised that the departure is scheduled just in time for this coincidence to take place.
