Beginning with Apple's release of iOS 10 in the second half of 2016, jailbreaking essentially hit a snag with the few available tools plagued by limitations. The latest solution from Team Pangu only works with 32-bit iPhones and iPads while Luca Todesco's Yalu jailbreak remains in beta status and incompatible with many 64-bit iOS devices.

Not only that Todesco's jailbreak is semi-tethered, the tool is yet to extend support for the iPhone 7 series at least. The iOS security researcher has made commitment that he will finalize Yalu but to date the solution still has the 7-day signing issue and requires re-jailbreaking every reboot.

Add to the woes of jailbreak fans is the fact that Yalu is unusable for both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and it's unclear when exactly the tool will be upgraded. The current status for jailbreakers in the 64-bit zone - they have something to tinker with but with attending inconveniences.

And there are two chief reasons why jailbreaking now is harder than it used to be. It was clear that after the initial deployment of iOS 10, Apple does not intend to give jailbreak makers space to operate. The tech giant issued patches and updates nearly on a weekly basis since iOS 10 was released and it appeared that hackers were unable to catch.

Then iOS 10.3 went live recently and according to Redmond Pie, the warnings from Todesco that the OS will be tougher to crack open came true. That's because from HFS+, Apple switched to File System APFS that likely was what prompted Todesco to say goodbye to public jailbreaking.

As for those with 32-bit devices, there are more options available but not without restrictions. Thanks to the iOS 9.x Re-store bug that iDownloadBlog.com said will come out soon, jailbreaking is now possible from iOS 6, 8, 9 and 10 en route to iOS 9.x. The same report claimed that a downgrade/upgrade will be made available to users on the firmware versions mentioned then they can choose the jailbreak route to head to so long as they have the saved blobs for the destination firmware.

The tools available are Pangu9, which works for iOS versions 9.2-9.3.3, Home Depot, which will run for devices on versions 9.1 to 9.3.4, and an upcoming solution from FriedAppleTeam. The latter will supposedly jailbreak iOS 9.3.5, iDB said, adding that all cracks can only be applied on 32-bit iPhones and iPads.
