A new study has revealed the formula for perfect lips and why scientists think Emma Watson bested other celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Scarlett Johansson.

According to the Daily Mail, researchers from the Natural Face Clinics in Syracuse, New York, have found a formula to determine which lips are the best using computer modeling.

Based on their study, the ideal proportion follows a balanced upper and lower lip size, characterized by acute angles at the corners of the lip and defined cupid bow.

The researchers suggested that the appropriate ratio of a perfect pout is 1:16 between the top lip and the outer thirds of the bottom lip.

They added that the central segment of the lower lip is 1.2 versus the top lip, therefore thicker in the middle.

A defined 'cupid's bow, meanwhile, refers to the double curve of the top of the upper lip resembling a perfect bow shape also contributes to the appeal.

Based on the results of the computer modeling, lead author of the study Dr. Sang Kim said that Emma Watson seems to have the ideal proportioned lips as described above.

"The key to achieving an attractive and natural lip enhancement is to perform a balanced augmentation of the upper and lower lips," he said.

The study sought to provide quantitative measurements to serve as a reference for clinicians performing lip jobs.
