Speculations or rumors have been circulating with HTC entering 2016 with a bang.

Earlier, it is said that there is a growing possibility that the Taiwanese company will turn its VR business into a standalone company. It is also said that it provides a great chance for Google to tap HTC to build another Nexus device for this year.

The most recent speculation is HTC plunging into wearable category, like its launching of a smartwatch in April 2016. HTC has already engaged into the fitness tracker category by proclaiming the HTC Grip. What seems to be interesting is having HTC not totally introduce Grip, but through the help of Under Armour, which made its way as a fitness kit.

A tweet from tipster Evan Blass hints the possibility of the HTC watch making its way to avid users on mid-April, and will probably run Android, Tech News Today reported. The tweet was the tipster's response for someone searching for information about the HTC One M10. The news about the smartwatch release in April makes sense, as it is the perfect opportunity for the company to launch it on the MWC 2016 that will be held on February.

HTC needs to have a display of lineups in the Barcelona MWC, which may also include revealing the leaks about the HTC One M10, its flagship handset for 2016. There have been many rumors about its specifications and design; however, there has been no strong information about it. The no-show news about the HTC One M10 only displays that the company intends to have it unveiled as a smartphone in a March event.

However, according to Android Headlines, these are all just leaks, and as such it would be best taken with a grain of salt. The tweet does not confirm anything about the HTC smartwatch, its specifications or design aspects. HTC may be quite too late to join the smartwatch party if the news turns out to be real. However, observers may wonder whether the smartwatch will be squarish or round, and as to whether it would be priced under $200 or more.
